Electoral Map of 1808
In 1808 the candidates for president were James Madison and Charles C. Pinckney. Running for vice president was George Clinton. James Madison was a democratic-republican and Pinckney was a Federalist. There was a total of 175 votes. Clinton got the least votes only three percent. Pinckney got twenty seven percent of the votes and, Madison received seventy percent of the votes.

The Presidential Candidates
Charles C. Pinckney was born on February 25, 1746. He died on August 16,1825 at the age of 79. During his life he was an unsuccessful federalist. He had been nominated twice by the federalist party and lost both elections. The first in 1804 to Thomas Jefferson only receiving fourteen percent of the votes while Jefferson had ninety two percent of the votes. Then he lost to James Madison in 1808.
